Kanye West Officially Introduces D Banj To The World

Kanye West officially introduced Nigerian singer, D Banj to the world last week at a London concert, which had D Banj backing up on stage. D Banj, who has always been known with his signature Harmonica sound, supported Kanye's "All Of The Lights" Performance with the musical instrumental. After the performance, West said to the crowd- "I don't know if y'all heard or not, but D'banj is a new artist on G.O.O.D. Music." And he took his G.O.O.D Music chain off his neck, and placed it over D Banj's.


I think this is wonderful, because there have been a lot of doubter in D Banj's home country, and this would put an end to all that. I always knew he and his producer/friend, Don Jazzy had their eyes on bigger fish, but i have to admit that it still came as a shock to me when the news started circualting in June that they had inked a deal with Kanye.


The next thing to be expected is some good music from them. I was first of the opinion that it was just going to be a marketing deal, where they (D Banj and Don Jazzy) would make their own music, and would just be aligned to G.O.O.D music for marketing and distribution. But, with Kanye performing with D Banj on stage, and Don Jazzy contributing production on "Lift Off", a track on the just released Kanye West and Jay-Z album, i guess it is more than that. I think it is wonderful that Nigeria is finally getting recognised for something other than the negative.
