Is it me, or is Jay-Z trying to creat another NAS? I am just saying. Jay-Z just signed Jay Electronica to his label(Roc Nation) and i can remember when Nas was all over the media Cosigning Jay Electronica and saying howmuch of him he see's in the kid. And it was just last week when me and my friends were talking about how J.Cole is so much of a Nas, with a little more hype. This is just my opinion, but i think Jay is still Nas's Biggest fan. He loves that kind of music, but knows he can't get off it, so, he would always love to support anybody that is in that lane. Remember how nas said at the end of ETHER, "always wanted to be on every last one of my classics"...then fast forward to 2006, when Jay was on Black Republican, a song on Nas's Hiphop Is Dead album, listen to how excited he was on that song. He even went ahead to do the song's intro. If you didn't know, you would have thought it was a jay song.
Okay, i am not saying this to be-little jay, jay is a great rapper, he just amuses me sometimes. But i think it is a smart move; with the right backing and promo, jay electronica can bring back that real hiphop.
Anyway, below is more on the jay electronica issue.
"We're trying to reintroduce magic to Hip-Hop," Jay-Z
said from the stage at a club called The Bar.
The event was set as a magic with several oddities performing, including a man deemed "The Human Slinky" and magicians.
Jay Electronica performed for the crowd and the DJ later played his song with Jay-Z.
