Who Is The King of California?

This is 2014, Tupac (R.I.P) has been dead for eighteen years, and Snoop is not too much into rap music anymore. So, who is the King of California? I ain't asking who is the most lyrical, or most gangster rapper from Cali. I think the King has to have a little bit of everything; from respect, to skills on the mic, street credibility, be the one other out of town rappers call when they come in, commercial success, and an ability to bring people together in the state.

I know Dr. Dre and Snoop crowned Kendrick Lamar the king of the West a couple of years back, but I don't think he has the qualities of a king. He is super lyrical and nice on the mic. He is probably the dopest new rapper from the California, and the west, and the whole of the U.S...but, I just don't see him as a King of California. Who do I see as the king? Game. It still is Game. He got all the qualities I listed above.

Of cos Dre and Snoop crowned Kendrick to help create buzz for him, and it really helped. Don't get me wrong, Kendrick is the dopest new rapper from the west, but as I said earlier, I don't see him as the king. When Game felt somewhere about Dre and Snoop giving the crown to Kendrick, he indirectly addressed the issue with his Freedom song, off Jesus Piece (2012). Check out the lyrics here- "Like a younger Jay with +Heat+ but not the ones the Thunder play with/So Los Angeles King is sort of an understatement."

He was talking about being bigger than the title of the King of LA/California. But with the release of his new song yesterday, Game is back to claiming that throne. On the Bigger Than Me track, he rapped, 'Less than five albums, kiss the ring on this motherfucker/California throne and I'm the king of this motherfucker.'

At this moment, I would like any rapper to go at Game, cos I know that is what he is calling for with his new song. And you know Game lives for beef...he makes whole album diss records. I just need him to get pissed enough and use the energy to make another album. And if you still have any doubts whether he is the King or not, think about it, who brought the West back? The west went dead after the whole Snoop, Tupac, and Dr. Dre era died out in the late 90s. Dre tried to keep the west on the Hip Hop map with Chronic 2001, which was released in 1999, but he couldn't do it on his own. Game came on the scene in 2004, and dropped his classic album, The Documentary in 2005. And for the next couple of years, he remained the best from the West. So, I end with this statement- Game is The King of California.
