DJ's in Hip Hop have really built a fortune for themselves.
DJ Drama made millions of dollars off mixtape sales back in the mid to late 2000s;
DJ Khaled has made millions off compilation tracks he puts together, and
DJ Envy ain't doing badly either. In case you really don't know
Envy, he started out with
DJ Clue in the 90s, when the whole mixtape and compilation albums really started becoming big. He worked mostly with New York rappers, like
The L.O.X, 50 Cent, Jay Z... then he worked his way over to radio. He spent some time at Hot 97 radio, before becoming one-third of the OAP"s(along with
Angela Yee and
Charlamagne Tha God) that handle Power 105's
The Breakfast Club show.
