Kendrick Lamar has gotten his first Gold plaque, and it is cool for him to have gotten it with his first official studio album. "Good Kid, M.A.A.D City" is actually the fastest selling rap album released in 2012...taking only 9 weeks to reach Gold status. For those that don't know, Gold certification is given to an album that sells more than 500,000 copies, and Kendrick's GKMC album is now at 506,000 sold and still selling. Congrats to him; he deserves it.
"It's crazy man, you think about the first time you actually start rapping," Kendrick told MTV News of good Kid, m.A.A.d city's success moments before he took the stage at Cali Christmas in Los Angeles. "That's what I think about every time I hear that, knowing how far I've got with it to actually have your own album in your hands and it's certified gold. It's a crazy feeling; it's a surreal moment in time that I'm in right now." (MTV)
