Boogey

Boogey is a Nigerian rapper on the rise, with roots from the south-south part of Nigeria, Cross River to be precise. His real name is David Iye Odey. A 25 year old graduate of Biology, who turned to rapping. He once described his style of rap as "Hip Hop doused with conscious, poetry, intellect, humour, love and rebellion". I would say that sums him up to a T if you ask me. But if I were to a add a little to that, I would say  he can be compared in a way to Kendrick Lamar- they both have incredible flow, but they are not about just putting words together, they are actually saying something.






He attended Federal Government College Lagos (Ijanikin) for his secondary education, and went off to Morocco for Tertiary studies. He started gaining recognition after he won the 6th edition of "The Underground" rap contest last year. And he has so far been  featured on 3 notable mixtapes from veterans in the game- Terry Tha Rapman's World Domination mixtape (on which his remix of Terry's Zombie song was featured); Modenine's Occupy The Throne mixtape (Modenine 9 introduced him on a track off the mixtape, but didn't feat on it with him); and M.I's Illegal Music 2 (on a track titled Ridiculous, which also featured Hench and M.I).




His mixtape, Art- ificial Intelligence is yet to be released, but he has dropped 2 tracks off it (You and You & I Kill Em- Riga Mortis remix) to give the public an idea of what to expect. People say he is the next best thing to happen to Nigerian Hip Hop scene, and see him claiming the crown of the King of rap in Nigeria. I guess it's to early to give him that title cos he hasn't even dropped an official single yet, not to talk of a studio album, but we can say that he is a viable candidate.
