What Is Realness In Hip Hop

I am writing this article cos i keep readig on the internet about one rapper being real and one being fake...one being hood and the other being soft and ish like that. I really don't understand why a rapper's talent on the mic must be judged by where he comes from, or what he does or cliams to do in his spare time. Everytime i read a comment about Rick Ross being a correctional officer, and Young Jeezy being the real hood guy, i get really pissed off. So what if Rick Ross was a C.O for a year when he was 19 (17 years ago), he is a great rapper now, that's all that matters. Jeezy had beef with Rick Ross and was saying all the reckless things about Ross, and talking about street ish and all that. Rick Ross got on radio and other mediums to challange Jeezy to any street battle he can bring on, and nothing has happened to Rick Ross since.

I don't support violence, but if a rapper says he is street, let him go all the way, or shot his mouth and just rap. So they say Rick Ross never did all the hustling....how do they know that for sure? He got into the rap game at 30, have you thought about what he was doing to keep himself alive all the while after stopping his job as a C.O 10 years before being presented to the hip hop world? 10 whole years!!!  So, jeezy was affiliated with the Black Mafia Family in the past, and that's what people are concerned about.

I really don't get people really. They support something one day, and then they say the opposite the next. They say they want realness, but when 50 Cent was waring against Game and Jimmy Henchmen, and Tony Yayo's house got riddled with bullets after he slapped Jimmy Henchman's son at the mall, they said that's taking it too far. And all this people that support 50 Cent and his so called realness (after living in connecticut for the last 10 years) all because he was the one that leaked the info about Rick Ross being a C.O forget that that same 50 was beat up by the whole Murder Inc crew from back in the day. And he had to wait till he was rich before he could go at them- which included him taking the stand against Irv Gotti (Murder Inc Co-Founder) & Supreme...and was happy when supreme gto convicted . I wont be surprised if he was one of the sources that helped get Jimmy Henchmen in jail. The same 50 that got shot 3 times, but made the world believe he was shot 9 times...so who is fake and who's real now?

So what are we talking about? There shouldn't be any half-stepping here. If they are gangstas, they should go all the way, and stop making all the noise in the media. Rappers are just entertainers; none of them go out and gangbang anymore. How can they have time to do that when they are mostly in the boot recording or doing shows? Why should they do that when the money they are making from rapping is more that they can make in the streets?

If rappers want to rap about what they did in the past, it is okay, but no rapper's mic skills should be based on howmuch drugs he sold in the past. People lash out at Drake all the time for being soft, but he is just expressing himself. You don't expect him to rap about gang banging when he didn't grow up in that type of environmnet. What matters is that he expresses himself the best way he can, and he does a pretty fine job as far as rapping is concerned. I'm a fan of the Game, but he has let his ego for keeping his street credibility get in the way of his actual rap career, and that's what has made him less relevant in the game right now.

People want to be entertained, so some rappers tell hood stories, add a little drama to their lyrics, but that don't mean it's all true. Eminem's Slim Shady LP had lyrics on getting high, sex, killing people and drugs...but that doesn't mean that was what he was indulging in at the time. i guess he explained that well on his track, Stan (from Marshall Marthers LP). You don't have to take everything rappers say seriously...they are entertainers. They are artists.
