Breaking News: Violator Management's Chris Lighty Found Dead

Legendary Manager, and the power behind Violator Management has passed away from a self-inflected gunshot wound. People would be amazed at howmany successful or up and coming entrepreneurs and artists that are suicidal...this is just one man that finally gave in. I say this cos i confess to have been suicidal at some point in my life. It is a said story to all that where close to him, and those he has helped in the past. And, if you are a Busta Rhymes fan, you can't but have heard him shouting out "Violator" a couple of times on his songs.

Read mroe on the news below-

Various sources have confirmed that pioneering hip-hop executive Chris Lighty has died. The native of the Bronx died today of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The powerhouse behind Violater Records and management guided the careers of hip-hop heavyweights like 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliot. Lighty began his career working for DJ Red Alert. He became a road manager for Boogie Down Productions and managed groups like The Jungle Brothers and A Tribe Called Quest. He was given the nickname "Baby Chris" for his good looks and to distinguish himself from his older friend Chris Ali. (News One)

First Week sales Projections of Slaughterhouse "'Our House" Album

Slaughterhouse dropped their second album (Welcome to: Our House), and Shady Records debut 2 days ago; and based on the first day sales, projections have been done and it is projected that Our House will sell between 50-60k first week. In case you don't know them, Slaughterhouse is a "four-man" rap group that consist of Royce Da 5'9, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I.

It is cool they have Eminem's backing, cos they are really lyrical, and monetary backing can be hard for such a group. But, with Eminem being the most commercially success rapper in history, this wont be a problem, and it will help keep the real hip hop heads really entertained.

Rap Albums on Billboard Chart

2 Chainz sold 48,000 copies of his Based On A T.R.U Stroy album this week, and now totals at 195,000 copies in two weeks. Rick Ross sold 28,000 copies of his "God Forgives, I Don't" album this week, and now totals at 350,000.

Nicki Minaj is really working her album (Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded), and dropping all the singles she can from it to keep it on the chart. The album sold 14,000 copies this week, and now is at a total of 640,000. Nas's Life Is Good sold 12,000 copies in its 6th week out, and is now at a total of 272,000.

Rick Ross is on his way to earning another Gold status. He sold 28,000 copies this week of his "God Forgives, I Don't" album. It is now at a 6 week total of 350,000. He should go Gold in another 6 weeks or so. He has always gone Gold with all his albums, so if this one can make it to a million, then it would be cool.

Pics of Mo'Cheddah and Boyfriend

Mo Cheddah is a fast rising Nigerian artist. She started out as a rapper, but i can't really call her a rapper anylonger. Most of her songs of recent have had her singing. If that is what works for her, i wish her all the best. Anyway, i caught a little gist on her i would like to put out there.

According to reliable sources, that is a pic with her and her boy friend at the side. His name is Bukunyi Olateru-Olagbegi, younger brother of Beat FM On-Air-Personality, Gbemi. They have been seeing each other for 2 years now according to people close to them, and he is the editor of Ace Magazine.

Official First Week Sales of DJ Khaled's "Kiss The Ring" Album

DJ Khaled debuts at number 4 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart this week. After one week in stores, Kiss The Ring sold 41,000. This is his 6th studio albums, and the numbers are not looking bad. DJ album compilations have never been known to sell big. He would definitely make the bulk of his money from individual singles sale.

The State of Hip Hop in Nigeria

Nigeria really is the giant of Africa, and definitely the most 'up to date' in fashion and style in the whole African continent, but as much as the music scene is flourishing, the state of Hip Hop in the country is another case. There are a couple of rappers doing there thing and being successful with it, but the bulk of Nigerian rappers are either trapped in the 90s, or those in the bid to infuse the local content into their music, have gone all the way to the left. You have the bulk of rappers that are too rigid with their style, and are stuck with that 80s/90s flow with no space for growth, and then you have rappers like Eldee, Dr Sid and Skales, who are definitely very skilled rappers, who have gone all the way to doing the local sing-song style which is very popular with Nigerian dancehall artists.

You are now left with rappers like M.I, Vector, Naeto C, and Ice Prince who are in the balance. Eventhough the last two mentioned are highly commercially inclined with their styles, you can't take away the fact that they are not out of the boarder of what is called rap...they deliver the 16 bars the right way. As much as Modenine is considered the best rapper in the country, i think he is too rigid. My apaologies to all his fans, but I am just being honest. He is not well rounded. Like I know KRS 1 is a skilled rapper, but he is not well rounded...that's how I see Mode. He has tried to break out of that box in recent times, and while some of the efforts were cool, in general, I don't think he is ever going to be that kind of artist. I listened to his Occupy The Throne mixtape, and i still feel this way.

Another notable person is Terry Tha Rapman, but i think he needs to put in more work. I was actually rooting for him for the title of the best rapper in Nigeria, but his latest single (I Like Your Style), I saw that he hadn't found that balance; the song was a cheap attempt to make a commercial song...he crossed too much to the other side. I still give the crown to M.I. "M" has been able to deliver song after song, album after album with that balance, and until someone comes along that is competent and well rounded enough, he would continue to wear that crown. Some would say Naeto C deserves to have that crown...or maybe Vector.

First of all, I think Vector is brilliant rapper. From his lyrics, you can see that he is actually very intelligent. His wordplay is cool...nice punchlines...super cool double enterdres, but I can't get over that voice. He sounds too much like Jay-Z. In fact, he stole Jay's whole style, and that alone disqualifies him. As for Naeto, he has two very big qualities that work well for him; he knows how to pick hot beats and make lace them with catchy hooks, and he knows how to ride those beats, but his lyrics are not super enough.

Sauce Kid on the hand is not just serious enough. He would have been that perfect blend if he put in more work. Ghino is another rapper worth mentioning. He also has that perfect blend. But I think he also needs to put in more work. But I have always liked him, and he never disappoints on tracks. And as for the females, I would start paying attention to them when they stop sounding like Eve or Nicki Minaj.

Rap Albums on Billboard Chart

2 Chainz has the number one album in the country this week...his Based On A T.R.U Story album sold 147,000 copies after one week in stores. Congrats to him for debuting at number one with his first album. Rick Ross sold 43,000 copies of his "God Forgives, I Don't" album this week, and now total of 322,000. Mighty Death Pop from Insane Clown Posse sold 41,000 copies in its first week in stores.

15,000 copies of Nas's Life Is Good album moved out of stores this week, and now totals at 260,000. Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded sold 14,000 copies this week, and now stands at 627,000 copies sold. MMG's Self Made, Vol.2 sold 6,600 copies this week, and now totals at 216,000.

Flo Rida's Wild Ones sold 6,100 copies this week, and is now at a total of 80,000. Tyga is now at a total of 284,000 sold total of Careless World, after selling 5,500 copies this week.

Benzino Apologizes For Eminem Feud

Benzino is Co-Owner of The Source Magazine, and a rapper. In the early 00s, he had beef with Eminem. I can't remember what started it, but there was a lot of back and forth back then from both artist. Benzino, in a recent interview says he regrets feuding with Eminem and says he wished he had done things differently.

You can check out what he said below-

"When the Eminem situation happened, I was just on top and I didn't have to answer to nobody else. When you're on top and even with a lot of people in New York, even with labels, you still have to answer to somebody. Me and Dave [Mays] was it, and at that point, I wanted to prove to everybody like, 'Listen, I'm the one running this here and I can do this without reservation' -- it was a mistake for me getting involved in the situation with Eminem. ... The Eminem thing started getting uglier and uglier, and of course I can take responsibility for some of the stuff I said as far as directly towards his family, you know, really personal shots. It was out of order. I believe some of the stuff that he said was out of order also, but at the end of the day, it's all fair in war -- if I could do it over again, I definitely would. Eminem was and still is a major force. Hip-hop has brought cultures together - Asian, Latino, Black, White - and I should have been more responsible...If me and Em ever met -- first I'd want to apologize about the Hailie references." (Global Grind)

5th Week Sales of Nas's "Life Is Good" Album

Nas sold 15,000 copies of his Life Is Good album, and this now brings him to a 5 week total of 260,000. He is about to release the video to Bye Baby; I hope that helps in bumping the sales of this album. I think it is great an album not to at least go Gold.

DJ Khaled's "Kiss The Ring" First Week Sales Projections

Two days ago, I predicted DJ Khaled's Kiss The Ring album would sell between 30-60k first week...i guess i am not far from the truth. Hits Daily Double have been carrying out first week sales projections of albums based on first day sales for a while now and they are not far from the truth. Khaled's album, Kiss The Ring album dropped on Tuesday, and they project it to sell 35-40k.

Read the info below-

Trey Songz' fifth Atlantic album, Chapter V, will easily take the #1 spot on next week's chart as the only title that will hit six figures, with a first-week total that should reach 125-130k. His last album, 2010's Passion, Pain & Pleasure, debuted with 240k in sales on the way to a total of 842k to date. Cash Money/Republic rapper DJ Khaled's Kiss the Ring, the follow-up to last year's We the Best Forever, is on target for 35-40k as the second-highest debut of the week. (HITS Daily Double)

3rd Week Sales of Rick Ross's "God Forgives, I Don't" Album

Rick Ross sold 43,000 copies of his 5th album, God Forgives, I Don't this week, and is now at a three week total of 322,000. That is 178k short of a Gold plaque. I see it achieving that in about 6 weeks. He has always been a Gold selling artist, but it would be nice to see him go Platinum once. I am hoping he can do that with this album, but if not, he is still cool.

Official First Week Sales of 2 Chainz Based On A T.R.U Story Album

2 Chainz dropped his debut album (Based On A T.R.U Story) last week Tuesday, 14th August, and after a full week in stores, it sold a total of 147,000 copies. I think this is very cool for a debut album in the present climate of hip hop. If he steadies well on the chart, he might end up going Gold.

In case you don't know, he was formerly with the group, Playaz Circle under Ludacris's Disturbing The Peace label, where he went by the name Tity Boi.

Below is the tracklist of the album.

01. Yuck! (feat. Lil Wayne)
02. Crack
03. Dope Peddler
04. No Lie (feat. Drake)
05. Birthday Song (feat. Kanye West)
06. I’m Different
07. Extremely Blessed (feat. The-Dream)
08. I Luv Dem Strippers (feat. Nicki Minaj)
09. Stop Me Now (feat. Dolla Boy)
10. Money Machine
11. In Town (feat. Mike Posner)
12. Ghetto Dreams (feat. Scarface & John Legend)
13. Wut We Doin? (feat. Cap1)
Deluxe Edition:
14. Countdown (feat. Chris Brown)
15. Like Me
16. I Feel Good
17. Riot

First Week Sales Prediction of DJ Khaled's "Kiss the Ring" Album

DJ Khaled's 6th album, "Kiss The Ring" dropped today, 21st August, and i am going to attempt to predict what it would sell in its first week in stores. He has been dropping albums non stop since his debut (Listennn... the Album) in 2006, and the only year he didn't drop an album till date was 2009.

Take It to the Head, and I Wish You Would are the two singles that have dropped from this album, and they surely aren't as big as "I'm On One" and "I'm So Hood", so i would say it would sell between 30-60k first week. Personally, i think this is a lovely album, with real dope rappers and dope songs, but Khaled has not been known to seel big with his albums. He always hoovers around 30-80k first week with sales.

4th Week Global Sales of Nas' Life Is Good Album

Nas sold 27,000 copies globally of his Life Is Good album globally this week, and this now brings it to a 4 week global total of 310,000. It is moving close and closer to that Gold status worldwide.

Please note that these are global sales, and not nationwide sales. It is currently at a total of 245,000 copies sold in the U.S.

2 Chainz List 25 Favourite Albums

2Chainz dropped his debut album (Based on a A T.R.U Story) a few days ago, and it is projected to sell between 130-140k first week. In a beed to know what makes this man, i have decided to put up his top 25 favourite albums according to an interview with Complex Magazine. He also gives reasons why he likes each individual album.

Check out the list of 25 2Chainz Favourite albums...in no particular other, apart in ascending order of years they were released.

1.  Maze- Joy and Pain (1980)
"That was my momma's favourite artist. So i can't not have that subconscious love for that because my momma would play that. The thing about old, traditional R&B had lyrics and lots of cadences so you could learn something from it. Hearing it just brings back memories.

2.  Keith Sweat- Make It Last Forever (1987)
"That's my aunties favourite album. It's baby making music. They don't even do it like that no more, real slow. It wasn't that impressive vocally, but the vibe, that cuddle vibe. I remember being young and getting that feeling. I might have been young but you can feel it.

3.  Too $hort- Short Dog's In The House (1990)
"I remember being too young to buy it and trying to get someone to buy it fr me. That was one of the first albums i actually tried to buy. And was teaching you how to have that 'I don't give a fuck' attitude and have that pimping in you. And it really fucked me up in high school because i was like, 'Beeyotch.' I was like, 'Too $hort ain't got no girlfriend."

4.  Geto Boys- We Can't Be Stopped
"They also put a hard album later that had Larty Hoover talking on the intro. They put together some of the illest tracks & they had game from the ghetto point of view.

5.  Dr. Dre- The Chronic (1992)
"That was the best album because fo the arrangements, the samples used, the introduction of snoop, Dre's hypnotizing horns. That shit was ill.

6.  Snoop Doggy Dogg- Doggystyle (1993)
"This is the debut album from Snoop. Can't get no better than with all the anticipation. They sold at 12 0'Clock at night like Jordans; the mall was crazy. And i remember being super young and liking the animated cover. I had one of my big cousins buy that album for me.

7.  Outkast- Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik
"That's where it started at for Atlanta. It was their first album and it opened the door for Atlanta music.

8.  Scarface- The Diary (1994)
"He that a lot of teaching on that too. I learned on that album about phone tapping from the Goverment, when the cops plant stuff on you, and not keepign important numbers on your phone. He gave up a lot of game on there, that was one of the best performances of sharing game.

9.  Mary J. Blige- My Life (1994)
"She had that bounce on there. You could tell she was going through things. She didn't hold anything back; it's like she gave you her diary."

10. Thug Life- Thug Life: Volume 1 (1994)
"That was dope. It was a group album, but Tupac took over it. I enjoyed the music because Tupac messed around with his voice on there. I got a lot of love for that album.

11. The Dogg Pound- Dogg Food (1995)
"That was dope. Daz did a lot of those beats with Kurupt. Kurupt is really from the east coast, so it was dope seeing him spitting over those west coast sounds. That was something 50 Cent did on 'Get Rich or Die Trying'- that was a good album too."

12. Goodie Mob- Soul Food (1995)
"It was music with substance from a down south point of view."

13. Me Against The World- Tupac (1995)
"He was going through some court issues and he showed a lot. The beats was crazy on there. He had a lot of melody on that."

14. Raekwon- Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...(1995)
"Rae and Ghost acting as a group. It gets no better than that. The album had a lot of symbolism. And it was like trap talk coming from the North. I enjoyed being able to tap into that street style, like cooking in the kitchen. I appreciated what they were talking about."

15. Makaveli- The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory (1996)
"He was basically teaching on Makaveli. That's where all the Illuminati stuff started, like, 'what's this about?' It was ahead of its time. There should be a reason why you want to listen to music, to get away, to have fun, to learn something. Different artists bring different things to the table."

16. UGK- Ridin Dirty (1996)
"Pimp C on the beats, Bun B snapping on the tracks. It don't get much better than that. Them Texas boys coming down, they whole lingo, language, they way they introduced people to syrup through their music. It introduced people to a new lifestyle. They showed rhyme skills from somebody from Texas."

17. Jay-Z- Reasonable Doubt (1996)
"Jay-Z's first album was way before it's time. A confident piece of work with street stuff, it was raw but he still expressed different deliveries on there. I also love The Blueprint, he had great production on there. That shit sounded good."

18. The Notorious B.I.G- Life After Death (1997)
"It was some of Biggie Small's best work. He had premonition on there."

19. Erykah Badu- Baduizm (1997)
"I play that all the way through. It just introudced someone who spoke about taking care of themselves, loving themselves, eating right. She came with a whole new vibe. She made a lot of women love themselves. And she told stories from the streets. And she is beautiful."

20. Outkast- Aquemini (1998)
"It was creative. Outkast did a great job of being a group that acted as two different individuals, so when they came together, it makes it theatrical because it's two people who have separate styles but in one group. I think that always work for them."

21. Juvenile- 400 Degreez (1998)
"That was an album of top to bottom jams. The production Mannie Fresh did on there, the sigles, all that embodied that Juvenile style. Hot Boyz, Wayne, they all put out classic albums, but 400 Degreez set a tone for what New Orleans could bring to the table."

22. Nas- I Am (1999)
"I just liked it. He played with different sounds on there and tried to get out of his box a little bit but he definitely kept it lyrical. And he was teaching on there. I like Nas for his concepts and his teachings. I learned story telling from Nas; he's very descriptive."

23. Mobb Deep- Murda Muzik (1999)
"That was dope. Prodigy went ham on that, Havoc had that crack. It was a great team."

24. R.Kelly- Chocolate Factory (2003)
"That's more baby making music. R.Kelly's story telling and singing, you would get into it. It was two step music too."

25. Beanie Sigel- The B.Coming (2005)
"I loved the vibe he had on there. Beanie is known to be aggressive a lot, but this was more laid back tracks so you were able to enjoy his lyrics better. Beanie was used to murdering, the tracks weren't so aggressive so you could see his wittiness."

Meek Mill's Dreams & Nightmares Album Release Date Pushed Back

Meek Mill got on twitter yesterday to let the world know that his debut album, Dreams & Nightmares will no longer be dropping on August 28 as earlier scheduled, but now on October 30th. I guess he probably still has one or two tracks he needs to work on and submit. Or, it might be that he wants to give his boss, Rick Ross some time to sell, before he drops. Ross's "God Forgives, I don't" dropped two weeks ago, and it has been doing pretty good on the chart.

Check out the tweet from Meek Mill below

Dreams & nightmares oct.30th sorry for the push back....i had to get a few things right! Classics ain't easy!

Rap Albums on Billboard Chart

Rick Ross still holds the title for the highest selling rapper on the billboard chart this week, with his God Forgives, I Don't album selling 60,000 copies in it's second week...it is now at a two week total of 279,000. Nas sold 19,000 copies of his Life Is Good album to total at 245,000. Rick Ross again, but this time with his MMG Crew, sold 7,800 copies of his Self Made, Vol 2 compilation album, to now total at 209,000.

6,700 copies of Flo Rida's Wild Ones album left stores this week, and it now stands at a total of 74,000 copies sold. Nicki Minaj is at a total of 612,000 copies sold of her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album, after selling 6,500 this week. Mayday!' Thrift Store Halos sold 2,800 copies in it's first week of digital sales.

Mac Miller's made it back on the chart this week, with his Blue Slide Park selling 2,200. It is now at a total of 344,000. Aesop Rock's Skelethon album sold 2,100 copies, and now is at 24,000 sold. Big K.R.I.T's Live From The Underground album sold 2,000 copies this week, and now totals at 83,000 sold so far.

Nigerian Musicians Rumoured to be Members of Illuminati...It's Not What You Think

Illuminati is a secret society that no one can prove exist, and people recently alledged top musicians like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rick Ross, and A$ap Rocky of being members. People have postulated all sorts, from saying they control the world, to mixing their doctrines with that of Freemasons'. What is known a fact is that, around 4 centuries ago, there was a society of men (not so secret), characterised by men of science, who called them selves the Illuminated ones- these bunch were interested in enlightenment of mankind. But, around 3 centuries ago, or their about, they were hunted down one by one and killed, deemed heretics. This killings were done by a very powerful religious sect of the time which rebelled against any type of change.

I hope i have not lost you there? I just wanted to lay down the fundalmentals before i treat the matter at hand. Now, let's go on. There have been series of videos and articles put up on the internet which disect the different lives of artists like Jay-Z and Beyonce...and especially Kanye West; these documentaries show "supposed" hard evidence that they do belong to the Illuminati. If people did a little research, they would discover that all these supposed evil signs and symbols are only "signs and symbols" from ancient Egyptian religions/beliefs which have been around longer than most religions.

As soon as the deal between D Banj/Don Jazzy got sealed last year (2011) with Kanye West's G.O.O.D Music label., rumors started flying around that they had both joined the supposed secret cult, The Illuminati. And, after D Banj and Don Jazzy broke off their long time business relationship late last year, many people said it was because Don Jazzy didn't want to join the Illuminati. I find these allegations very funny and mediocre.

D Banj, P Square, Goldie, Whiz Kid and Charlie Boy are some of the Nigerian celebrities that have been rumored to be members of this mythical cult- "The Illuminati". What is funny to me is the fact that the one thing most of these individuals have in common is success. Right now, it is almost like any unexplanable success is attributed to the artists alledgedly joining the Illuminati. What the people porpoting this theories believe is that these artists are devil worshipers, and that "the devil" wants to take over the world through them. They say these artists have sold their souls to the devil for fame and fortue. Well, maybe i would believe in stuff like that if i didn't research on such individuals past, and see how much they suffered and strived, and persisted before they became successful. Maybe i would believe in such if the artist in question just sat on their asses (like most people that justify their unambitious lifestyles to not wanting to join a secret society) all day, and fame and money came their way.

Now, i am guessing people are saying- "what about the statement Kanye West made at a particular concert about selling his soul to the devil?" He was only being figurative; he obviously didn't mean that literaly. What he was implying was that he made the kind of music that the people wanted to hear...he made pop (popular type music) and not the regular type of root hip hop music. A lot of people use that phrase a lot, but they sure don't mean they had a meeting with "the devil". So, back to the Nigerian angle of things. D Banj is the most crucified in this matter, because he recently signed to Kanye's label. And there is a picture of him flying around, which has him wearing a "tri dog tag"...a chain with a pyramid like pendant. Just for the information of people, that chain wasn't made specifically for D Banj; it is one of the chains that Nigerian Jeweller, Chris Aires makes, and sells between $3,500- $10,000. So, does it mean anyone that buys that type of chain from Aires is a member of the Illuminati? Or those it mean Chris Aires is "the devil" personal contractor? If a group of people like to associate themselves, or get fascinated by old Egyptian gods and their symbols, that has nothing to do with evil or the devil. It is just funny that these same people that are termed evil are the biggest givers to charity.

And there is the recent connection of P Square's mom's death to that of an illuminati blood sacrifice. Well, Nigerians have always been known to feed off fairy tales like this, so it didn't surprise me when people started buying into such analogies. I remember listenning to BBC news one night with my dad, and they were focusing on a part of Kenya (East Africa), where locals ganged up to kill anyone that appeared to them to be too successful. It's because of a mentality like this, which is common in most parts of Africa that people would believe anything that is put together to support why they are not successful...and why there is some form off evil deeds behind every success stories. It shocked me when I had a conversation with a couple of my co-students at Masters level last year, and i discovered they also had such mentality.

A couple of years ago, i decided to read the whole Bible, from front to back. I read it, not because my Pastor instructed me too, but because i really wanted to have a deeper & personal understanding of my religion. Somewhere in the first four books, i came accross a verse that goes something like this- "and i would bless the heathen (non believers) with the blessing promised to you, as long as they follow the rules i laid down that you have decided not to follow." Of cos, it wasn't written like that, but i want you to get the message of what God was trying to say. I made the mistake of not writing the verse down, and i have asked a lot of Bible scholars about it recently, but no one seem to know where it is. I guess i would have to take time out to read the whole Bible again. But, what i am trying to say is that, this explains why some non believers are successful. People believe all these "Illuminati" stories because they think anyone that is successful without religion has to be a devil worshiper, but this verse overules that. I really wish i had the Bible verse, but i am sure someone out there knows where it is said in the bible.

Second Week Sales of Rick Ross's "God Forgives, I Don't"

Rick Ross made it to the number 1 spot on Billboard's Top 200 albums last week with his 5th album, "God Forgives, I Don't". This is his 4th number one, with a 5 album catalogue.

He has slipped to number 2 with 60,000 copies sold this week. The album is now at a two week total of 279,000. This would be another Gold (Certification for selling more than 500k copies of an album) album for Rick Ross...but we never can say, it could make it to Platinum status.

4th Week Sales of Nas's Life Is Good Album

Nas's 10th album, Life Is Good sold 19,000 copies in its 4th week in stores, and is now at a total of 245,000. The rate at which the albums sales is dropping every week, it would be almost impossible for Nas to make it to Gold status with this one.

He let his followers know on twitter 2 days ago that a video for "Bye Baby" is coming soon. I think making that track a single is a very wise decision as a lot of people have picked that as their favourite off the album. The song is straight from the heart, so it is bound to catch a lot of people's attention. Maybe this move would  boost sales a little...even if it just steadies the sales at 20k a week, it would help it go Gold in a couple of weeks.

Big Meech Speaks on Rick Ross Using His Name in His B.M.F Song

In 2010, Rick Ross made a hit song titled B.M.F (Blowing Money Fast); the B.M.F also stood for Black Mafia Family (a one time drug dealing family), who's leader, Demetrius "BIG MEECH" Flenory, Rick Ross can be heard shouting out repeatedly on the hook of the song. Apparently, Young Jeezy didn't take this likely, as he had been associated with Big Meech before Meech went to jail, and felt Ross had no rights making the B.M.F song, as he never had any prior relationship with the crew. Jeezy went on to make a diss track at Rick Ross using  the instrumentals to Ross's B.M.F hit.

The man in question, who should have the real say in the matter has come forward to speak on the matter, and you can read what he had to say in a back and forth letter interview with allhiphop.com

AllHipHop.com: Do you still talk to Young Jeezy?

Big Meech: I haven’t been able to talk to anyone on the phone for the last five months. The last time I spoke to him was near the end of last year.

AllHipHop.com: How do you feel about his success?

Big Meech: Being the person largely responsible for his success, I’ve always and always will be proud of his success. I would never wish or hope or his downfall for any reasons. I just personally feel that he could do more abut helping me to regain my freedom in a timely fashion, with his success and the position he is in right now in life. For example, [he could say] ‘I could not rest knowing he has a 30-year sentence for a first-time, nonviolent offender. I’m meeting with every reputable attorney in America until I can find one that can at least get him a sentence reduction, if not bring him home…’

…but that’s me and the love I have for him and the majority of people in my B.M.F. family. To be honest, I get ask so many questions about him – from C.O.’s to convicts to random people in the mail – some of which I have no answers for, ’cause for me to have the answers to most of the questions, I would have to have an excuse which there is “NO EXCUSE.”

AllHipHop.com: What do you think of Rick Ross making the song “B.M.F.”?

Big Meech: Actually, I appreciate all of the music that Rick Ross and MMG has put out period. But in 2010, when I first heard my name repeatedly in the “B.M.F.” song, I was like, “Damn, that’s hot.” And it’s a hit. To this day, he has people from all over the world saying, “I think I’m Big Meech,” which is a priceless way of recognizing and paying homage to me and the B.M.F. family. We all have 100% love for Ross and MMG. I think he is a helluva artist and mogul.

AllHipHop.com: Does it bother you that he was once a corrections officer?

Big Meech: (LMAO). I think this question is old and irrelevant, because I have friends and family that are C.O.’s. I’ve ran across some good men and women C.O.’s. I think that Ross is a great example of being a dreamer and dreams coming true, just from what I know about him being with Suave House and writing rhymes and rapping and for all the years he stuck with it. And now he has built a brand and an empire. So the answer is no, it doesn’t bother me that he was a C.O. It would only bother me if he was a “rat.”

AllHipHop.com: Or that he is in a fight with “Freeway Ricky Ross” for the use of his name?

Big Meech: I know “Freeway” but I’ve never spoken to him about his name, but in my opinion, if I felt that we had to get an understanding about the use of my name, then we would arrange a meeting at everyone’s convenience in a comfortable environment not a courtroom. I personally don’t see anything wrong with him using the name. I think he made the Rick Ross name popular and positive; it would be great and more beneficial if they did some charity events together instead of some senseless feud.

Arlissa and Nas Collab on "Hard to Love Somebody"

Nas is really doing a lot of collaborations these days, and i think it is really cool for his brand. The latest is unlike what you would expect from him. Arlissa is an upcoming South London songstress, and her song, Hard to Love Somebody caught Nas's ear way accross the Atlantic. It touched him so much that he called her up and requested to make a rap version of it, with her on the chorus and an extended last verse. She agreed, and he flew her down to L.A. The video of the song that is on Youtube right now is practically that of a camera crew following her around from when she started preparing to meet Nas in L.A, till when she got on the plane, and actually walked into the studio to meet him...and in between, also shows Nas recording in the studio.

When you here the lyrics of the song, you will have an idea why Nas fell in love with it instantly...it speaks directly of his recent predicaments.

London Records have announced plans to release a unique, one-off collaboration by Grammy-nominated hip-hop legend Nas and stunning South London newcomer Arlissa‘Hard To Love Somebody’ is due out on September 30, and features remixes by 88 Keys (who most recently produced ‘No Church in the Wild’) and celebrated DJ and production duo The Nextmen (Plan B, Paul Epworth). Further information will be announced shortly. For Arlissa, it was the call of a lifetime. At just nineteen years old, the singer and songwriter with that unusual name – half German, half American, but raised in Crystal Palace – had finished her A-Levels, and was contemplating her next move. She’d broken up with her first boyfriend of three years, moved out of the family home, and watched her friends go off to university, whilst she stayed put; intent on making music her life. And then one such song, ‘Hard To Love Somebody’, found its way largely via word-of-mouth from her producer to a publisher, and then finally to Nas – who has sold over 13 million records in the United States alone, and recently spent two weeks at number 1 in America (and returned to the UK Top 10) with a new album, Life Is Good

Nas was such a fan of ‘Hard to Love Somebody’ that he not only asked to record an alternate rap version of it, but flew Arlissa to L.A, wishing to do so in-person. The resulting collaboration is an infectious and emotive mix of Nas’ idiosyncratic delivery with Arlissa’s gorgeous original chorus (“oh it’s hard to love somebody, when all I want is you”). “The whole experience was completely surreal,” Arlissa recalls. “My ex was obsessed by Nas, and we used to listen to him all the time...though I was only a year old when ‘Illmatic’ was released.” Typically charismatic, Nas wrote his rap virtually on the spot, and proved an encouraging presence for Arlissa: after all, the only other time Nas has featured a UK artist was with the late Amy Winehouse. “He just makes you feel so comfortable,” Arlissa says, “that it wasn’t until I was on the plane home that I suddenly realised, ‘F**k, I just did a track with Nas’. It’s been an incredible opportunity.

Aged just nineteen, Arlissa has emerged overnight to become one of the brightest UK talents of the moment. Armed with a dauntingly strong set of songs, Arlissa’s is a voice – and a name - that looks set to be planted firmly in the pop map heading into next year. (houngouts.altsounds.com)

Third Week Global Sales of Nas's Life Is Good Album

In its third week out, Nas's 10th album, Life Is Good sold 44,000 copies globally. The album is now at a total of 283,000 sold worldwide.

It will surely go GOLD globally in a couple of weeks, but it will take a bit longer to go GOLD nationally. Right now, it is at a total of 226,000 copies sold in America.

Jay-Z, Eminem & Nas...The 3 Kings of Hip Hop

I think people can argue all day about who is the best, who was the best, or who is the greatest, but I can confidently say that Nas, Jay-Z and Eminem are the 3 kings of hip hop right now...they are like the holy trinity of the rap game. Remember that there is a difference between a King and a Knight...note that.

Please, bring your argument on right now, I am in that mode. I have been listening to rap music religiously since 1995, and those 17 years, I watched trends come and go; i have watched rappers sell millions that are nolonger remembered today. But these 3? No other rappers have done what they have done...there are no other rappers like them in the game right now.

I love Big and Pac, and unlike the millions of people that just talk ignorantly about these two, I listened to their music while they were alive. I didn't start listenning to them after their deaths. They were great, and i give them the honour, but we can't be stuck in the past forever. I really don't like when people say Biggie is still the best rapper ever...come on! Jay-Z and Nas were around then, and they are still around now. And even then, they were peers, it is not like Nas and Jay were bowing to Pac and Biggie...they were peers.

I've tried to make my point with the above issue...i said i tried, because a lot of people would still disagree with me, but I just wanted to state a point. Okay, let's go on. These 3- Nas, Jay-Z and Eminem are the greatest as far as i am concerned. And I am not putting anyone above the other; I used to do that, but I now know that it is meaningless...they are very different.  I am not going to use sales alone to stress their greatness; if we were using that, Nas would be off the list fast, and Eminem would difinitely be in a higher league than the two, but they have been able to make great music, and prove time and time again why they should be respected.

As much as people say Jay-Z is "too" commercial or what not, you have to note that he came in the game with the aim of being the greatest... making great songs and still retaining his skills. I missed out on a lot of Jay-Z songs from the late 90s and early 00s cos I was a die-hard Nas fan, and they were going through their beef thing then, so i didn't listen to his music. But i did listen to The Blueprint, and i can say that album is one of the best rap albums ever made. You have to separate rappers that can rap all day all night, from those that also got those mad skills, and top it up with making great songs; Jay-Z is at the top of the list of rappers in the latter.

Which other rapper you know in rap history that never jumps on any trends, and still makes commercially successful tracks, and has the longevity that Jay-Z has? Think about it...none. You and I know he is a great rapper...behind all the success, he is still a great rapper. This is the reason Nas and Jay -Z clashed in the first place. And it is the reason why, 11 years after the beef, people still continue to argue on who is better. Do you think the beef would have divided the whole hip hop listening world to two halves if they weren't the greatest at the time?

Now, nas on the other hand, is rappers rapper. I haven't seen so many rappers say they think another rapper is the best like they have with Nas. Busta Rhymes said he thinks Nas is the best rapper in the world back in 2009, Common said something similar last year...these are meant to be his peers, and it must mean something for them to say that. They say that because, as hard to accept as it might seem, Nas is is one of, if not the most rounded rapper in the game. He is a great story teller, a teacher, he got that flow, he has the dope delivery, and he makes great songs, without bending his art form to sound commercial. He is not the one with the best delivery, or the best flow, but he enbodies all that in his style.

Eminem on the other hand...em! Hmm! I don't know where to start. He would outshine any rapper on a song with his delivery alone. I think the only rapper that has been able to match him on that level is Royce Da 5'9. But Eminem is much more than that. I heard a lot of people saying Eminem would have been this great if he was black. I agree that he might not have sold as much, but that doesn't take anything away from him skill-wise. He has crazy wordplay, his flow is sick, his delivery is ridiculous, his story telling abilities are up there with Slick Rick and Nas. All these have nothing to do with the fact that he is white, people need to accept this.

This decade and the last, this three rappers have been consistent, and showed time and time, album after after album that they are the greatest. I don't think there is one G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time), I think there are a couple of G.O.A.Ts, and these three are the ones that I recognise for now as the 3 kings of Hip Hop...and G.O.A.Ts in their rights.

Jay-Z & Beyonce Become "The World's Highest Paid Celebrity Couple" for 2012

I guess these two can't but continue winning. Even years where Beyonce was silent, she always managed to rake in a couple tens of millions. And Jay-Z...he always knows how to squeeze those dollars out of the brand he created with his name. As he once said- "I'm not a business man/I'm a business man!"

Beyonce and Jay-Z are "The World's Highest Paid Celebrity Couple" for this year- 2012; earning a combined $78 million dollars from May1, 2011 to May 1, 2012

Last year's runners-up on the list of The World's Highest-Paid Celebrity Couples, the duo has now climbed one spot to top this year's ranking. The singer's new album went platinum in the U.S., not to mention her non-musical ventures and endorsement deals, which all helped to bring her total earnings between May 1, 2011 and May 1, 2012 to $40 million, according to data from the latest Celebrity 100 list. The hip-hop mogul made millions from Watch the Throne, his musical collaboration with pal Kanye West, and even more from the tour that followed. Add to that a bevy of non-musical enterprises such as ad firm Translation and cosmetics company Carol's Daughter and the result is a staggering $38 million that he has brought home in twelve months, putting the couple's annual income at $78 million. (Forbes)
Married couple model Gisele Bundchen and NFL star Tom Bradyranked second on the list.
Gisele continues to out earn her husband as the world's heighest paid model, bringing in a shocking $45 million on her own, easily beating out Brady's combined $27 million from his NFL contract and endorsement deals. British superstars David and Victoria Beckham moved up the list into third place this year, with a combined $54 million, the majority of which comes from David's advertisement deals, and his big-time contract with the MLS's Los Angeles Galaxy. Victoria's post Spice Girl endeavors have included forays into fashion, as her self-titled line scores annual sales of $40 million, and is growing at a rate in the double digits. The top five is rounded out by a pair of Hollywood couples known for big-time blockbusters, with Brad Pitt and Angelina Joliebringing in $45 million, while Will and Jada Pinkett Smith bring home $40 million, respectively. Meek Mill Names His Top 5 Favourite Rappers

Meek Mill was recently asked to name his top 5 favourite rappers, and below is the answer he gave-

"A lot of people been shying away from the real rapping and hip-hop. I'm really representing," Meek told Nessa. "When I come out with my album, I want to have a classic album, an Illmatic, a Hard Knock Life Jay-Z, Get Rich or Die Tryin' type, a hip-hop album." It's always nice to hear who the hottest rappers in the game look up to, and when asked to who his top 5 favorite rappers were, Meek Mill said, "In no particular order, Biggie, Tupac, Jay-Z, Nas, andLil Wayne." (The Versed)

I hope he didn't put some names in their cos everybody seem to be putting those names in their list. But it's all good. I would just really like people to start giving reasons why they like this person or that person, and not just throw a bunch of names up their to maybe make them look like they know about hip hop.
