Bow Wow Talks New Album

Bow Wow moved over to cash money records last year, but he has been silent for a while now. And i can remember him saying something about being depressed, and contemplating suicide some time ago. I know how he must feel; he aint as hot as he used to be. And every move he makes just seemed to be making his situation worse. His last album in 2009, New Jack City Pt 2 didn't do so well. I think it sold just like 30k in its first week, and ended up at like 200k over all or so. He has been talking about working on a new album for sometime now, but i think, according to what i have been reading, it is done.

Read what bow wow says below-
"I'm not worried at all. On this record, I sound like a new artist. I'm even approaching it like a new artist. There are so many things that are going on around me that as an artist you want to write about it. And the things that I'm writing about now are true things that I feel. This is my most passionate, realest, and emotional album that I've ever done. This album is so personal to me. Once the fans hear this album, I don't know how I will be able to top it. I may just have to bow out after I drop this one." (VIBE)
New Jack City, Pt. II
Hmm! I wish him all the best with this one. But the thing now is not how hot his album is going to be, because people are nolonger looking out for him; it is how much work he can put into the album after it drops, so that people start to feeling him again. I guess people still see him as "lil bow wow", and are not seeing him as a 24years old young adult he now is.

Wale Comments on Ending Beef With Kid Cudi

Wale recently explained, and gave insight on how he and Kid Cudi ended theire beef. I remember thinking it was a very funny beef, because i couldn't just think of what would make them have a feud in the first place. It is not like they are doing the same type of rap, and it is not like they are gangsta rappers. I know they were very close at some point...anyway, read what Wale had to say about it below, and some other news on his career so far.

Complex recently caught up with Wale to discuss his upcoming album with Rick Ross, Meek Mills and Pill, Self Made. During the interview, the D.C. emcee discussed how he fits into the Maybach Music scheme and how it's affected his music. He said that the move to Rozay's imprint hasn't change anything about the content of his lyrics, but that it's allowed him to branch out musically.

"I’m the deep-thinking, spend too much money on sneakers, member of Maybach Music," he explained. "I’m not out there trying to do what Pill’s doing or Rozay’s doing. I am the deep-thinking, overly analytical–maybe sometimes emotional—but it’s that same emotional as ‘Pac for me. What they call emotional now, they call it whining...I can’t give you the sound you want to hear because it’s the sound I want to make. If I want to talk about the fucking sex trade on a fucking Lex Luger beat that sounds 'B.M.F.'-esque then let me do that! That’s what I want to do. Just because I’m making a deep song about deep shit, it doesn’t mean I have to go be deep sounding."

Wale also discussed how he and fellow XXL Freshman Kid Cudi squashed their feud from last year. He explained that Cudi called him one day and they worked out their issues respectfully. He also revealed that he has since worked with the G.O.O.D. Music rapper on a song for his album.

"Cudi just called me," he explained. "He was like, 'Man, I fucks with you man, you know?' We just had a real brother conversation. It was a long conversation but a lot of things needed to be said. Some of the things that he said hurt and I’m sure some of the things I’ve said or done probably hurt. The nigga told me what was on his mind and I respect that. We handled it like men."

He also added, "He’s going to be on my upcoming album. When we first got cool again, he said, 'What have you been working on?' I said, 'This song that I just got. You would sound good on it.' The song is produced by this guy from France, Spiff TV actually brought me the beat. He recorded it from his iPhone, Ross’ producer mixed it down, and it sounds like a real song. He’s actually redoing the hook. It’s kind of a Camp Lo vibe. I don’t want to call it what we say throughout the song which is, 'Rolling, we rolling, we rolling.'"

Wale also explained he feels that people in the industry don't appreciate him as an artist. He even went as far as to call out Complex, saying he feels offended by how the magazine profits off the alternative lifestyle that he and other rappers live.

"Sometimes I wake up and think the world hates me," he said. "I feel like the industry might hate me. But that’s the mentality I grew up in because I’m black. I’ve been trained to believe the world hates niggas. It’s society. Like, being pulled over at church and being 14 years old? It makes you look at the police differently. There were times when I was in the front seat and they told me, 'Don’t do nothing,' and they took me out the car, and they pulled the gun out on my man and everything. I’ve seen it all. I’m not bitter to nobody man. If I was bitter I wouldn’t even talk to a lot of them. I wouldn’t be doing no interviews.

"Especially with Complex. I thought they were really trying to...I’m not going to lie, I was a little bit offended. I thought there’s a market that myself, Cudi, and a couple other artists helped. [We didn’t help it] survive, because Marc Ecko doesn’t need none of us. But I felt it was a company that we helped keep thriving. Them little kids in DC, they wouldn’t know nothing about no damn Nudies and no damn APCs and all that if it wasn’t for me. So I’m more or less the mid-Atlantic ambassador for the alternative lifestyle that Complex is promoting. We—and when I say we, I’m including myself and the niggas at Complex—are the people in the school that are like, 'What the fuck is those? What’s that?'"

Nick Cannon Says he Thinks Cory Gunz Can be Bigger than Drake & Nicki Minaj

Nick Cannon recently commented on Cory Gunz, and said he feels Gunz could be bigger than Drake and Nicki Minaj. In case you didn't know, Cory Gunz is the son of the 90s rapper Peter Gunz. I am sure you remember peter gunz and lord tariq from back in the days.

Anyway, read what nick canon had to say-
"I definitely think he can [be the next Young Money superstar]," Cannon declared in an interview. "I think he can be bigger than Drake and Nicki Minaj. I'm a huge fan of both of those acts, but Cory comes from a different place. He's a street dude and he's been living hip-hop all his life and the industry's been buzzing about him for years. Jay-Z signed him when he was 17, so just the respect and the potential that everybody recognizes--and he holds the Bronx down like no other and that's the birthplace of hip-hop--so I think we can see a lot of things from this cat." (Rap-Up)

I have to say something that has been on my mind for a while, i think Cory Gunz murdered lil wayne on that 6 foot 7 foot song. In fact, i am always waiting for his part whenever the track comes on; he is the reason i can stand that song. I am just being honest.

But about him being bigger than drake and nicki, i think that would be a bit later, when there shine starts dropping. I do think he has the potential; he is straight up fire.

Read what gunz has to say about being signed to Young Money and Lil Wayne-
"All of his performances, whether it's a video or a live performance, his energy is always the same: It's always up," Gunz said in an interview referring to Lil Wayne. "If there's anything that I learned from him, it's definitely to put your heart in it. Regardless if you're writing a verse for somebody else's album, write it like it's for yours." (MTV)

Jarule Talks 50cent, and Past

Jarule is about to go serve jail time, but he has been in the news lately, on different matters. He has been bringing up the past; what he did wrongly, what he doesn't regret, and what not. Everybody says 50 cent killed ja's career, i don't believe  he killed his career, i think he,dr dre, eminem, busta rhymes, the whole g-unit, and a bunch of other guys came at ja when he was down, and they made him look bad in the eye of the whole public, and that just made him go way more under. So, i don't think it was one man (50 cent), i think it was a whole movement going at ja (one man), when people were already getting tired of his style.

Anyway, read what he had to say about his whole singing style below-
"Drake can sing, man," Rule said in an interview. "I always admit it. I'm a shallow singer. But I think that's what attracted people to what I was doing, because I made you feel like you too could do this. I'm not blowing Luther Vandross notes over here! You could do what I'm doing. I think that's what made it pop music. I think for the people, that's what made it popular, that they were able to sing along with it and they weren't intimidated by singing along to it because it was a guy that can't sing." (RapFix)
"@50cent talked about me singing but that n*gga sure be hitting that high note lol My STUDENT!!!"

I think he had a valid point there; but like everything that is a gimmick, always has a time limit; and i guess his time was up after a while. But he had a good run for for it.

Read what he had to say about 50 cent and the whole beef below-
"Sway, I promise you, he can get on Twitter right now and say, 'Ja you b*tch a** n*gga,' and I'm gonna say, 'Good for you, young man. I wish you well,' " Ja told Sway in an interview. "I think a lot of people got wrapped up in my and 50's whole nonsense. For that, I would've done that differently, maybe. My beef was with one dude; I'mma keep it with that dude. I'm not gonna drag in this person and that person. Those old feelings are gonna bring back more old emotions and more old feelings. It's not important to me anymore." (MTV)

And i want to point out that the reason 50cent came hard at jarule was because of all the past humiliation ja and the whole murder inc camp had put him through when he was a nobody. They beat him up in his own studio, and left him with stitches.

Read some of ja's tweets concerning that matter below-
"I remember when we was beating @50cent a** he was curled up under the track board like a BIAICH lmao!!!," Rule tweeted Wednesday (March 23).
"I can talk sh*t on twitter to that ho a** n*gga I already f*cked him up TWICE lol... Talk what u know ppl better yet ask him lmao!!!"

Cam'ron Says he Wrote Lil Cease's Verse on "Crush on You"

Cam'ron recently revealed the fact that he wrote Lil Cease's verse on "crush on you". In case you don't know, lil cease is a former member of the Junior Mafia click, a group that Biggie put together in the mid 90s, which also had Lil Kim in it.

Read the story below-
Dipset head honcho Cam'ron recently revealed that he was responsible for writing one of Lil' Cease's most well-known verses.

In an interview with Hot 97's DJ Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg on their Juan Epstein podcast, Cam revealed that he wrote Cease's rhymes on Lil' Kim's 1996 track "Crush on You."

“What happened was, [Untertainment CEO Lance] Un [Rivera] gave Mase $30,000 to write five songs for Lil’ Cease at that time and Mase gave me $5,000 of the 30 to write one or two of the songs,” explained Killa. “I wrote the ‘Crush on You’ song and they ended up keeping it for Lil’ Kim album but it was really for Lil’ Cease. The original ‘Crush on You’ is all Lil’ Cease, Lil’ Kim isn’t even on the record.”

Unfortunately for Cam, he did not received any residuals from the track, which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music charts in 1997.

I think i can say this is not at all good for Lil Cease's image at all. How can 6 tracks be written for you; what do you do as a rapper then? That aint cool at all. I feel every rapper should write his own stuff. Okay, i can pardon if another rapper rights a hook for you, but how can another rapper write your whole verse for you. That is just how i feel.

And it is cool that mase could break off his friend, killa cam some dough. In case you didn't know, Mase, and Cam'ron were in a group together from back in the days. Back in the days, mase was called murda mase, and cam was called killa cam; that was before they bought got signed. They grew up in the same hood, Harlem, along with Jim Jones.

J.Cole Comments on Debut Album

J.Cole recently, after being silent for a while, commented on his long awaited debut album. He has been signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation Label for about three years now, and we have been waiting on an album since people heard his "come up", and "warm up" mixtapes; and also his feature on a track (A Star is Born), on Jay's Blueprint 3 album (2009). Yeah!, and his Friday Night Lights mixtapes is also very cool. I got it as soon as it dropped last December.Friday Night Lights

I have said it many times here that it is good that Wale moved off Roc Nation, now he has the versatility, and oppportunity he needs to grow as a young artist. I think Roc Nation didn't come out as jay wanted it to be, so he just stopped giving it his time and energy, and Cole is trapped there. Good for Wale, he only signed a distribution/marketing deal with them, so he could move to Maybach Music owned by Rick Ross.

Read what J.Cole had to say about his debut album below-

J. Cole's debut album has been in the making for years, and it doesn't appear he's ready to commit to a release date.

"I know my fans are frustrated with me, because I won't give a date," said Cole in an interview with pressofatlanticcity.com.

"I only gave a date one time in my career last year, and I smacked myself in the face because it was so unrealistic. Now I say it's coming soon, and it's really true, because we're in the final stages right now."

"I think of my own expectations and my pressure on myself," he added, while describing his album as "heavy" and "emotional." "I don't worry about what the world wants me to do. I'm worrying about meeting my expectations."

Cole also described his relationship with Jay-Z, which fell in line with previous accounts that Hov allows his artists to make their own way. "He's definitely a mentor," said Cole. "I just appreciate the fact that he lets me learn and grow on my own. When I need information, I can come to him." (hiphopdx.com)

Prodigy Says he had Jay-Z Shook

At his book signing recently, Prodigy told a story about how he almost beat up Jay-Z. P seems to be all over the place this days; i guess it is the release of all the pepped up energy he saved up in jail. I know he and jay had a problem back in the early 00s; about the same time jay also had the thing with Nas. I never heard this story though, and prodigy must be really humble to not have put it in a song, or said it at an interview all this while.

Check out the story below-

During a book signing in Washington D.C. with author/professor Michael Eric Dyson, Prodigy of Mobb Deep revealed quite the shocker when he explained to the audience that he once almost gave Jay-Z a beat down outside of Justin’s Restaurant in New York City.

The incident happened several months after Jay-Z called out Prodigy at HOT97’s Summer Jam concert although according to Prodigy his issues with Jay-Z didn’t stem from Summer Jam.

“Sometime after that little statement I made about him, Jay-Z put out the song called ‘The Takeover’ and he did the Summer Jam,” Prodigy explained. “Had my picture up when I was a little kid at my grandmother’s dance school. I thought I was Michael Jackson. Aight, so cool. That was funny to me. I didn’t even take offense to that. That was just funny to me. My whole problem was a whole ‘nother thing.”

During the discussion Prodigy went on to explain that upon hearing that Jay-Z was at Justin’s Restaurant he and his crew of about 10 to 15 people waited for the rapper outside the restaurant.

“We surrounded the front door so he couldn’t get out without seeing us. So I’m standing there waiting to see him and finally he comes from back somewhere,” said Prodigy. “Him and Jermaine Dupri come walking. Jermaine sees us and he was out. Jay’s standing there with two bodyguards approaching us…He puts his hand out, like this, and comes walking up to me like this to shake my hand. So I’m looking at him like I could just really treat him like a rag dog right now like for real. So I shook his hand, ‘What’s up man?’ He was like ‘Yo listen, it ain’t no beef. It’s just music. Let’s keep it just music. There’s no problems son. I just wish you would have came and told me how you felt to my face instead of putting it in a magazine.’ And I’m like ‘Alright cool, there ain’t no beef. We can keep it just music.’ And I had thought about it real quick. Cause I’m thinking about how I could just really overpower him right now with the security and all that.”

From his story, i can see that he just wanted to have Jay shook; like a warning on what could come. He wanted to see what the problem was, and he could have turned it to something else if jay wanted to prove tuff guy. Anyway, i glad it didn't get rough cos, jay is more than all that. And it is so cool that Jay said in a recent interview that prodigy was the best rapper out at one point in time; for jay to admit that really shows how humble jay can be at times.

Prodigy and Cappone Feud

Prodigy, one half of Mobb Deep, and Capone, one half of another rap duo group, CNN (Capone N Noreaga), are beefing over some comment that P made in his new book. It was something about Capone snitching or something like that. Anyway, Capone hit the internet a few days after the interview where prodigy talks about the issue, and said some less than nice things about prodigy.

Read below-
"I'm talking to you, p*ssy P," Capone said. "Karrine Steffans...F*ck is wrong with you? Look where I'm at. Look where I'm at. What you want me to do, walk around this b*tch? I ain't got to prove to you I'm from QB or my n*ggas hold me down in my hood, n*gga. I'll be in this b*tch dolo, n*gga, on a beach chair before anything happen to me in my motherf*cking hood n*gga. Let me tell you something. N*ggas don't rat on my side. Listen man, you a f*cking f*ggot. But at the end of the day, I ain't even gonna call you all that because we got a lot of things in store for you. This is just the beginning. Act I." (Forbez DVD)

And this is what prodigy had to say in reply-
"He's probably upset because the truth of the matter came out now as far as what happened with Havoc's brother and the whole case thing," P told radio host Funkmaster Flex referring to Capone. "It's sad it went down the way it went down. We didn't ask Capone to do that, we had nothing to do with his decision making. His decision making is based upon his decisions that's in his head. Really, he has to take that up with himself at the end of the day. And it's the same thing with him. In no way, shape or form was I trying to be disrespectful or to target him or to ruin somebody's career. That wasn't my intentions at all. My intentions was to tell the story as it went down and how it is...He was a friend of ours from the neighborhood, in Queensbridge, where that whole hood respected me and Capone was one of those people that showed me love when I came in so I had love for him." (Hot 97)

Hmm! Well, in matters like this, you can't really know what transpired, but i know cappone is a real dude, but i do not know why prodigy would want to make up a story, so i do not really know what to think. I think the best thing would be for the two to have a sit-down, and trash out the matter. I don't support what cappone is saying about having a lot of things in store for prodigy- is that like a threat? I just feel both of them are older than that. They would probably have kids in high school by now. At least they are both in their late 30s, fast approaching 40. I don't think they need all that.

Check out the main story below-
"I can't tell you why he did it, or why he said what he said afterwards, but all I can tell you is that really happened. I was thinking when I was writing it like, "Oh he's going to take some offense to this." But when I think about it, this is a story that really happened, so I'm not going to leave out something that's part of my life story, something of major significance that happened, just because he's going to be upset about it. Like, dude you should be upset about what you did, not that I'm telling my life story. [Laughs.] So that's why I put the shit in there, because it's just crazy that he did that. I didn't write it in my book trying to target him, or "I've got beef, f*ck him," or trying to ruin his career. It ain't nothing like that. If he feels some type of way about it, basically he needs to take that up with the man in the mirror." (Complex)

As i said, we don't know who is telling the truth, we just have to wait and see.

Retro News: Ghostface Killah Broke Mase's Jaw

Back in the mid/late 90s when Bad Boys was untop, and Mase was the shit, Ghostface Killah broke his jaw at a New York club, after mase had made some derogative comments about wutang clan. Hmm! That is some gangsta shit. I don't support violence, and i laugh at rappers in their late 30s still talking about how hood and gangsta they are, but, if you say you are gangstar, then you gotta prove it. I guess mase deserved it. He was like a love-boy/braggadocios rapper, so i wonder why he thought he could go the gangsta way and bad mouth wutang.

This is really funny, cos Loon (another past bad boy records signee) has said it several times that he was always getting mase out of trouble. Mase would sleep with someone's girlfriend, and when the guy finds out, and wants to issue the beating on mase, loon would have to step in the way; sort of like his body guard. But i have to wonder, what was mase doing with all that money he was making? Couldn't he have hired bodyguards, or at least moved all the way out of the hood? I guess that was what made him quit rap, and become a minister. And the reason he couldn't stay a minister was because the decision wasn't from deep down his heart; the decision was like his way out of all the trouble, and confusion he had gotten himself into.

Read the story below-
After badmouthing Wu-Tang at a concert, Bad Boy recording artist Mase had a run-in with Ghostface and his entourage at New York City club. There was a physical altercation between the two camps, and Mase was left with a broken jaw. This incident became a point of reference for various rappers, including Kanye West on "Through The Wire", "If you could feel how my face felt you would know how Mase felt", and fellow Wu-Tang Killa Bee Shyheim, who witnessed the incident and referred to it in freestyle as the time "Ghostface retired Mase". Ghostface touched on it himself on the track Malcolm "Yo I champunch Mase in his face over some bullshit The other night". In the June 2007 issue of Hip Hop Connection, Wu-Tang affiliate Cilvaringz stated that Ghostface had in fact done jail time for "beating up" Mase. (gossiprocks.com)

Wale Talks About The Ability to be More Versatile on Maybach Music

Wale recently commented that he has the ability to be more versatile on Maybach music. I can remember thinking in this line when i heard he had signed with Rick Ross's label- i am happy he isn't going to end up like J.Cole; a talented artist just sitting around. I am happy for him, and to think we are from the same western part of Nigeria; the same Yoruba tribe, it just feels great. I wish him all the best.

Read more on the story below-Attention Deficit [Explicit]

Nearly a year ago, you could find Wale in the rare Hip Hop video that catered to women without being an overt love ballad. What should fans make of the fact that a video like “Diary” found Mr. Folarin on stage at what appeared to be a poetry reading, while “Make It Rain” now finds him among a bunch of clapping ass cheeks at the King of Diamonds gentlemen’s club? Maybe nothing at all.

“When it’s all said and done, I want to be known as the most versatile rapper to ever touch a microphone,” Wale told Power 99 FM’s Cosmic Kev during a recent interview. “If the backpackers can’t respect that, then what genre are you supporting? What genre doesn’t evolve? What person doesn’t evolve?”

If “600 Benz” is any indication, Wale may be well on his way towards his goal. He previously stated that his vision was compromised on Attention Deficit—from singles being shelved or changed to video treatments being changed. To hear Wale tell it, the informal working relationship with Maybach Music Group founder Rick Ross may be just as important as his desire to showcase his versatility.

“We talked about the vision and all that,” Wale added. “Dude is a genius; he’s like a big brother to me. We first met at King of Diamonds—it’s life changing. It’s like Chuck E. Cheese for grown men. He liked my style and wanted to know what my situation was.

Rap Albums on the Billboard Charts

Whiz Khalifa is still the number 1 selling rapper in the country and his Rolling Papers album sold 34,000 copies this week, which brings the total to 328,000 copies so far.

The Book Of David [Explicit]DJ Quick, the West Coats rap legend/producer recently dropped a new album, and he is on the charts this week. His "The Book of David" album sold 9,800 copies after a week in stores.

Cam'ron and his new protege, Vado are on the charts this week with their new collabo album. Gunz N' Butter sold just 7,800 copies this week. I guess gangstar rap is really dead.Gunz N' Butta

T.I's No Mercy sold 3,500 copies this week, which brings his total to 499,000 copies sold. He is just a thousand copies from going GOLD; but at his peak, he sold this off in the first week. I think two things have affected his sales; 1, he is no longer as focused as he once was, because of all the jail sentences he has been experiencing; and 2, gangstar rap is not selling as it used to. If you check his songs now, even from his Paper Trail (2008) album, he had been making the switch to make more poppish songs. I wish him all the best, because he was a promising star at some point.

That's it for this week; no big debuts.

Prodigy Talks on Moving Past Beefing

Prodigy, one half of the rap group, Mobb Deep, who recently got out of jail, has put the word out that there is no more beefing for him; he wants to do a lot of songs with a lot of people. Mobb Deep signed with 50 cent in 2005, and they automatically couldn't associate with all the people G-Unit had beefs with, which was A LOT.

Read the story below-

In a video interview with ThisIs50, Prodigy of Mobb Deep revealed that following his recent release from prison he’s willing to put past beefs behind him for the sake of music.

“I went straight from prison straight to the G-Unit office and then I came to the studio after that,” Prodigy explained. “So when I stopped at the office I had told 50, ‘Yo, right now we in a position where we gotta start doing songs with people.’ As far as Mobb Deep. We gotta start doing songs with a lot of people…Cause that’s what it is man. It’s like when nigga’s ain’t doing songs with people, beefing with people and all that. We really trying to dead all that.”

Among the many artists Prodigy has reached out to in regards to a possible collaboration is Miami rapper Rick Ross. When asked if Ross’ corrections officer background would be an issue Prodigy explained that he isn’t at all bothered by the rappers past.

“Rick Ross is just one rapper out of many that we’ve been reaching out to,” said Prodigy. “Number one, aight he a correction officer. Aight, so what? I know a lot of cops. I know a lot of corrections officers. I know some people that’s on the other side of the criminal shit and just because you got that job or whatever that doesn’t necessarily mean that you a part of the people that’s tryna target us and fuck with us…That doesn't bother me that he was a corrections officer.”

Both Ross and Prodigy are rumored to be working together on a project titled “Black Cocaine.” Prodigy referred to the project in a Tweet to Ross earlier this month. (hiphopdx.com)

Hmm! This is great; it is like Jail changed Prodigy for the better. I am sure when you have time to reflect on all the things you could have done, you start waiting for the day you come out so you could go back to doing all you have to do. And he is looking fit again; even fitter than just before he went in.

I can remember when Prodigy was always taking shots at Nas during every interview he was in, and running his mouth about how 50cent made him rich. At that point, i stopped messing with him. How could he throw away a 10 year friendship with nas, for money; i didn't see loyalty in that. I am glad he is back to his senses.

Beanie Talks Probable Cause of Jay-Z Feud

Beanie Sigel, former Rocafella member recently commented on the probable cause of his feud with jay-z, his former boss. I guess Jay-Z had to sacrifice his relationship with his crew members to climb higher up the success ladder. I guess in life if you want to move on up and your friends are not ready to move with you the best thing is to cut them off, and get new ones. It is cool that jay still has Memphis Bleek by his side, but i feel he did Damon Dash bad.

Read what beanie sigel had to say about what caused their beef, which erupted some time last year. It was a one sided beef though, cos jay never responded.

"The sh*t stem[med] from a situation from me that happened when Jay-Z's bodyguard put his hands on me not in a manner that was harmful to me, but in a manner where he shouldn't have touched me period," Sigel explained in an interview. "On a push in the back tip and I addressed Jay about it in front of his A-List company [...] and I guess he ain't like that too much. I think that was the opening of the 40/40 Club, after that I never saw Jay again. I never talked to him again. That couple months went by or whatever, I even tried to reach out to him. It got to the point where you had to get to four different people to talk to Jay." (Forbez DVD)

I guess it still comes down to what i was talking about; beanie was acting all gangstar when jay is no longer on that tip.

L.A Reid Remembers Left eye and Compared Her With Nicki Minaj

L.A. Reid recently remembered left eye (tlc member), and he compares her with nicki minaj. Read what he has to say below courtesy of hiphopdx.com

Yesterday marked the ninth anniversary of the untimely passing of TLC member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. The rapper/singer was killed in a car accident while travelling in Honduras, she was 30 years old. Lopes’ death left a large hole in the music industry and in the lives of the many people that loved her. Record executive L.A. Reid was one such person whose life was touched by Left Eye and who continues to mourn her to this day. Reid was like a mentor to the artist and signed her to his LaFace Records label.

Reid spoke with The Hollywood Reporter recently and expressed his feelings for Lopes. He explained, “I think about her often, I miss Lisa a lot. She was like my little girl, and I loved her. I was closer to her and I was devastated at the loss of her. I still love her today, and she still is in my mind and in my thoughts daily. It's been quite some time now but it's one of those things that just never goes away. Left Eye' was an original ... losing 'Left Eye' was a big loss to all of us. I'm still saddened by it as we talk about it. ”

Reid also stated that he believes Left Eye’s influence is still felt in the music industry to this day. He revealed that there was one artist he felt had the same aggressive spark that Lopes displayed during her career. “I see a little Left Eye in [Nicki Minaj]. There's certain female artists that you can see the influence of TLC and that time,” Reid said.

Wow! That is so touching, i sooo miss her too. Just in case you do not know, L.A Reid is a music executive, and producer; and was with Def Jam for a considerable number of years. Concerning his comparison, i think you can say nicki minaj has that playful quality that left eye had. Oh! How so i miss her. She was so lovable.

Papoose Drops New Mixtape; The 2nd Coming

New York rapper, Papoose just dropped a new mixtape titled The 2nd Coming. Hmm! That is interesting. I think Papoose never really got to where he was suppose to, maybe because he has that mixtape flow, but a different type of flow and lyrics is needed for a studio album.

Read what he has to say concerning the mixtape below-

"The reason why I called the mixtape The 2nd Coming is because when I first came in the scene, I shook the ground, I had the whole industry petrified, I took a million-plus. This time I'm coming back, it's going to be even worse. Y'all know what I did before. See what I did; now, round two...I feel like l'm more mature now and I got a lot more to offer the game than what I had back then. So I'm glad my album didn't come. Now with my album coming out, I think I'm well-prepared. This mixtape will really show a first-time listener what hip-hop represents." (MTV)

I wish him all the best, because i fill he is really talanted, he just needs the right guidiance. He needs to know how to channell that talent for his benefit. I can remember when i first heard him, it was the Alphabetical Slaughter track on one of Dj Kayslay's mixtapes, and he blew me away. I was in college then, and i started putting everybody unto his music, but he stayed too long on the underground circuit. He did some major featuring like the one with Joe, but nothing of his. And maybe he should chill on the mixtapes, and focus on getting an album out, or getting mainstream features- the dude has like 27 mixtapes out. I am not exaggerating, you can do a google search of it. I think if he put out less songs, they would be taking more seriously.

Game Breaks Silence on Canada Arrest

Compton rapper, Game was arrested and detained upon entering Canada last week, and was to be held for 2 weeks on some undisclosed charges. I was surprised when, a couple of days ago, he was present at a Lil Wayne concert in The States. Read what he has to say about the whole issue below-

"It ended up being two days man because my people, everybody was on it, man," Game told radio host Funkmaster Flex. "From my girl to just everybody was on it. We finally had to get a signature from the secretary of state saying that all of my crimes I committed in the past were done with. I served my time, I was off probation, no parole, everything was dead so they ended up letting me go. It was crazy. They let me see the paperwork for why they were holding me and it said like, 'This person is in Canada. He's kingpin of a gang of Bloods and he came to rally up Bloods and to bring new Bloods to the concert. They just made it seem like it was a cult. Like I'm trying to bring people in the name of my music to come and just pray for the Blood gods or something. I didn't show no passport, they was waiting on me soon as I got off the plane so somebody knew something about something." (In Flex We Trust)

That is really funny; so game is now a threat to the Canadian Government? lol! All i would say is for him to quit touring, and focus on getting his R.E.D album out, before he becomes forgotten in the rap game. Nobody mentions his name anymore when they talk about Hot rappers out. He is just 31, and has been in the game just 6 years, so he needs to keep his name fresh on people's minds. That is just what i think. I have heard all the mixtapes he has dropped since L.A.X (2008), and they have all been dope, so it is not like he has nothing more to offer.

Lloyd Banks Say's Nicki Minaj Has a Big Impact on Females

In a recent interview, G-Unit Member, Lloyd Banks comments on the impact that Nicki Minaj has on females all over the world.

Read the story below-

"Artists like Lil' Kim, she was speaking from a woman's perspective, but it was a little more raunchy," Banks explained in an interview. "It was almost like she was a dude. I have had that same connection. You know, I've got girls that run up on me, now, and recite some of my hardest sh*t. And I'm like, 'D*mn.' You think that they're going to sing something like 'Smile,' and then drop some sh*t from a hard record. It's kind of crazy how things are turning. But the difference with Nicki [Minaj], to me, she's very lyrical and creative with how she puts words together, I think she's going to open up the minds of girls who are opposed to just looking like a Barbie. I think the idea is not just the excitement of having the clothes and the look and everything. I think that she's making girls want to actually put words together." (All Hip Hop)

Well, i don't always agree on what Lloyd Banks says, but i think i am riding with him on this one. I know nicki captures a whole more market range because she does the whole pop thing, and then can rap as well. So, she is very versatile, and the people that listen to the pop songs will also have to flow with her on the rap, so that makes sense.

I wish her all the best, i just feel she needs to chill on the dissing. She keeps taking subliminal shots at the older female rappers, especially Lil Kim. I heard the song Britney featured her own which also had Keisha, and she took shots at kim on that song as well. She needs to learn from 50 cent, and how his popularity got to his head, and he made every other rapper in the game his enemy. Now, he is making amends with them, because he knows he ca no-longer do it on his own.

Method Man Tired of Pot-Head Image

Method Man, the legendary rapper, Wutang Clan member, is tired of the pot head image he and his rap partner created in the 90s, and is working on a more mature character for the future. I remember watching How-High, and i was thinking, this two guys are actually good rappers, and good actors, but you can't be taking seriously if you are potraying that kind of image in your late 20s.

Anyway, i think he is more serious than Redman, so it is not that bad. But i guess he has realized that if he wants to be taking seriously in rap, he has to act serious. I think that fact is also affecting Ludacris a bit; that is why people rarely put him in their top 10, while he is a fantastic rapper.

Read the story below-
Method Man recently caught up with The Come Up Show following a recent performance in Canada. The Wu-Tang rapper explained that he's aiming for classic status with his upcoming The Crystal Meth, saying that he felt that he missed the mark on some of his previous efforts.
"I'm not realy reflect[ing] on the past yet," he explained. "I'm not old enough yet. You know what they say, 'Young people look to the future, old people look to the past.' I'm going to reflect when I'm long gone and done with the music...In my opinion, I feel like I fell short a few times with albums, and I want my own personal classic," he explained. "No arguments, no holds barred, Meth killed it. That's it."
Meth also spoke on his public persona as a smoker. He said that he's been actively attempting to disassociate himself from the pothead image that he earned earlier on in his career, saying that it makes his childrens' lives more difficult by maintaining it.
"When you get older and you've got kids and your kids are going to school and you know [their] teachers...and they see how active you are and concerned [you are] with your kids' education or well being, it's hard to sit there and be taken seriously if people are always talking about he's always high...which is totally not the case," he said. "When I first came out, I was young, we were doing our thing, we smoked a lot...and we didn't care if the world knew. Now, I have to use more discretion because of my kids. This is not for me; everything I do if for them now, so I use a bit more discretion and I don't put weed as a forefront anymore."
 Tical 2000: Judgement Day [Explicit]
I know how he must feel. When you have kids, you have to think about how your image is going to affect their lives. You could go around not giving a fuck as a young adult, but when it comes to family time, you have to be more serious.

Is M.I The Best Nigerian Rapper?

Really, is M.I the best Nigerian rapper? This debate has been going on for a long while now, since M.I came into prominence in the late 00's. I was riding with him all the way back then; i still am riding with him, but he has watered down his lyrics a bit to hit the commercial market. Well, i don't blame him for not wanting to be a broke rapper.

I actually went on nairaland.com, and i have gotten comments from real people concerning this issue, and i want you to judge from these comments.

Nicki Minaj to Announce Date of Second Album Realease in Sept

Nicki Minaj has hinted fans that she would announce the date her second album is to drop in September. I guess they can't get enough of her, and her album, Pink Friday is doing so good.

Read the story below-

Since releasing her debut album, Pink Friday, Nicki Minaj has been certified platinum and set a record by becoming the first female rapper with seven different songs on Billboard magazine’s Top 200 singles chart. In between performance dates on Lil Wayne’s “I Am Still Music” tour, Nicki dropped a few hints about a potential follow up effort.

“You’ll get another album within 12 months,” Nicki told JoJo of LA’s KIIS FM. “I always write stuff down as they come. You’ll get the announcement for the next album in September. That’s all.

In addition to the tour and collecting concepts for her sophomore effort, Nicki is still promoting Pink Friday. She says fans can expect something within the next week or so.

“I put my Barbs on detention yesterday because they were yelling at me and threatening to beat me up and kill me over the ‘Super Bass’ video,” Nicki added. “Last night I approved the final ‘Super Bass’ edit. So now it’s out of my control and I’m hoping you’ll get it before the week is out. But if not, you’ll get it at the top of next week.”

Do your thing nicki!!!, This is your time. I am a Lil Kim fan, but kim can't touch nicki right now. Of cos i am not saying nicki is a better rapper, i am just saying she is the hottest female rapper out; and the fact that she has that pop thing going for her, there is no stopping her right now. I mean, she is touring with britney spears, and she has songs like "right through you", and "your love", that have that pop appeal.

Soulja Boy Reacts to Low Sales of Last Album (DeAndre Way)

Soulja Boy recently commented on the low sales of his DeAndre Way album, which was dropped last year November. The album sold lower than his 2 previous albums. His first (Souljaboytellem) sold 113k first week, and the second (iSouljaBoyTellem) sold 46k first week- but this particular album sold 13k first week, and i guess it really got to him. He made it huge in 2007 when he had a hit with his single, Crank That (Soulja Boy), which went and sold in excess of a million in ring-tones.
The DeAndre Way
Read what he had to say below-

"Honestly, I shut down for a week [after my album dropped]. I wasn't talking to nobody, I wasn't talking to management, and I wasn't talking to the label," Soulja explained in an interview. "I wasn't picking up nobody's calls. I went like that for a week. I was in a state of confusion. I needed answers. I was doing this concert in Hawaii for my fans and then I was in Hawaii for a week. I wouldn't have been able to go platinum first week anyway, because the label only shipped like 18,000 copies. So I wasn't able to do gold first week or even 100k, none of that. They only put like 8,000 units in Best Buy. It was crazy. I didn't know all of that though. I was just going off of, 'My album's going to be in stores, so I'm going to promote it as much as I can.' I'm not the type of person to just be out like, 'Hey, my label did this and I was in a situation with that.' But I don't want to get caught up in record-label-artist drama or nothing like that. I just want to keep everything cool to make music, that's all." (Complex)

I don't think it has anything to do with the labels, i just guess his time was over. Even at his peak, he was just able to sell 900k copies total of his first album, so it is not like he was huge on album sales. He was huge on ring tone sales, that is where he sold millions, and i guess that is how it would continue to be. You see the downward  regression with the album sales? First 113, then 46, which is like half; and then 13, which is a little less than half of the last.
